The short version
SoulGen, unless you generate enough to need Promptchan's unlimited tier — in which case that tier is probably the best value in this entire category and nobody outside Promptchan can prove it.
SoulGen publishes a complete credit charge table: an AI Character image is 1 credit, 2 with "Looks Like" holding the same face, Human Modeling 3, Smart Edit 3 to 8 depending on model and resolution, chat 0.2 a message, voice 1 a minute, creating a companion 10, video 15 to 40 credits per five seconds. Their Pro plan is 100 credits a month at $12.99, or $90.99 for twelve months. You can price your own month before spending anything.
Promptchan's pricing page is better than SoulGen's in every respect except that one. Three clear tiers at $14.99, $23.99 and $33.99, a real FAQ, a stated cancellation route, a daily free allowance — and it prices a voice message at 1 Gem and a voice call at 2 and then says only that "some actions have their own Gem cost". The action the product exists for is not priced anywhere.

There is no per-unit column here, and that is deliberate: SoulGen and Promptchan do not sell the same countable thing, or one of them publishes an allowance and never publishes what it buys. Dividing money by that produces a confident number about nothing.
- Fifty images is their 100 credits divided by the 2 credits their table charges for an AI Character image with "Looks Like" — the setting that keeps the same face. Without it an image is 1 credit and you get 100, but you are no longer generating the same person, which is the entire comparison.
- Their more expensive paths cost more: Human Modeling is 3 credits an image, Smart Edit on SoulOmni Pro is 6, or 8 at 2K. On those the 100-credit month is 33 images or 12.
- Gems and credits are different units and the allowance column is not a comparison, even though Plus and our Plus both happen to read 100 at $14.99. Ours is 100 photographs. Theirs is 100 Gems of unstated purchasing power.
- Their Pro tier's "unlimited casual generations" sits alongside the 800 Gems rather than replacing them, so the Gems presumably buy the non-casual kind. What the boundary is, we could not read.
SoulGen free
SoulGen has a free tier. Their pricing page describes the Pro benefits and the credit charges rather than the free allowance, so we are not going to put a number on it.
Promptchan free
A daily allowance of Gems with no card, for image generation and AI chat, plus the community gallery and one-click cloning of any public creation. A daily grant is a genuinely different offer from a monthly one — it renews faster and caps harder — and theirs is more generous over a month than our ten credits.
What a published credit table is actually for
It is not transparency as a virtue. It is that a buyer can do the arithmetic that decides whether the product is any good for them, before paying, without an account.
On SoulGen: 100 credits is 50 consistent-character images, or 500 chat messages, or a hundred minutes of voice, or about thirty seconds of 1080p video on their best model — and you can mix them and know roughly where you land. At $7.58 a month on the annual plan, a consistent image works out around 15 cents.
On Promptchan: 100 Gems is an unknown number of images. It might be excellent value. The Plus tier at $14.99 could be 100 pictures or 20 and the page does not narrow it. That is almost certainly not concealment — image cost probably varies by quality and style, which is exactly why it is hard to put one number on a marketing page — but the buyer is left unable to answer the only question they had.
Unlimited, and what it would have to mean
Promptchan Pro at $33.99 includes "unlimited casual generations" alongside 800 Gems, plus full-length video with extend, custom characters, voice calling and max quality. If "casual" covers most of what you would actually generate, that is the cheapest heavy-use plan in this comparison set by a wide margin.
The word doing the work is "casual", and their page does not define it. A product offering genuinely unlimited generation is either serving much cheaper renders than its competitors, throttling somewhere, or has better hardware economics — all three are legitimate and they are worth very different amounts to a buyer.
SoulGen sells no unlimited tier at any price. Its answer to the heavy user is the annual plan at $90.99 and a credit table you can plan against, which is the more conservative offer and the more predictable one.
Video is the real dividing line
SoulGen takes video seriously in a way the credit table makes obvious: six named models, 720p and 1080p, five-second units, an extend function, reference-to-video, and video editing priced by the second. That is the expensive thing, and a credit that must be able to become five seconds of 1080p is priced against it — which is why their images look dear next to a pure image generator.
Promptchan's full-length video with extend sits on the Pro tier only. Below that you are buying an image product.
So: mostly video, SoulGen, and read the credit table first. Mostly images at volume, Promptchan Pro, and accept that you will discover the real rate by using it.

- A complete published credit table — around twenty actions priced, no account required. The best pricing documentation of any product in this set.
- Video: six models, two resolutions, extend, reference-to-video, and editing by the second.
- A one-month plan that explicitly does not recur, which is a genuinely customer-friendly structure almost nobody offers.
- Voice calls at 1 credit a minute, priced in the same currency as everything else.
Where Promptchan wins
- Unlimited casual generations on Pro. Nothing SoulGen sells competes with it if the word means what a heavy user hopes.
- A daily free allowance rather than a monthly one, plus a community gallery with one-click cloning of any public creation.
- A better-written pricing page overall: a real FAQ, a stated cancel route, list prices with promotions acknowledged rather than hidden.
- Three tiers against SoulGen's one, so the ladder has somewhere to go.
What we could not check
Both companies keep their checkout behind a signup. Where a number was not readable without an account it is listed here rather than taken from a review site that earns a commission on the answer.
- SoulGen: The free tier's allowance.
- SoulGen: Whether the annual plan renews at $90.99 or at the $155.88 comparison price.
- SoulGen: Image quality and face consistency against ours, measured rather than asserted.
- Promptchan: What an image costs in Gems, at any quality. This is the number the whole comparison would hinge on.
- Promptchan: Where the boundary between a "casual" generation and a Gem-priced one falls.
- Promptchan: Whether the monthly prices carry an annual term.
