Luvo AI vs Promptchan

Every figure checked 30 August 2026

The short version

Our verdict: it depends

Promptchan publishes more about its pricing than almost anybody here: three tiers at $14.99, $23.99 and $33.99 a month, a free tier with a daily Gem allowance, and an FAQ that answers what a Gem is, what each tier adds and how to cancel. It is a good page and it is worth saying so.

It also never says what an image costs in Gems. It prices a voice message at 1 Gem and a voice call at 2, and then says only that "some actions have their own Gem cost". So a $14.99 plan grants 100 Gems that buy an unknown number of pictures, and no honest price-per-image comparison can be made from the outside.

Where they clearly win is the top tier: $33.99 buys unlimited casual generations plus 800 Gems, full-length video with extend, custom characters and voice calling that is included rather than metered. We take calls too, at a credit a minute, but we sell nothing unlimited and our top rung is $29.99 for 250 photographs.

What a month costs, per unit

PlanPer monthAllowance
Promptchan Freedaily Gem allowance$0.00unlimited
Promptchan PlusGems a month$14.99100
Promptchan PremiumGems a month$23.99400
Promptchan ProGems a month, plus unlimited casual generations$33.99800
Luvo Plus, monthly$14.99100
Luvo Premium, monthly$29.99250

There is no price-per-unit column on this page, and that is deliberate: Promptchan publishes an allowance and never publishes what it buys. Dividing money by an allowance whose exchange rate is unstated produces a confident number about nothing.

  • Gems and credits are different units and the allowance column is not a comparison, even though Plus and our Plus both happen to read 100 at $14.99. Ours is 100 photographs. Theirs is 100 Gems of unstated purchasing power.
  • Their Pro tier's "unlimited casual generations" sits alongside the 800 Gems rather than replacing them, so the Gems presumably buy the non-casual kind. What the boundary is, we could not read.
  • Their page says promotional pricing is offered from time to time and shown at checkout, so the figures above are list prices.

What free gets you

A daily allowance of Gems with no card, for image generation and AI chat, plus the community gallery and one-click cloning of any public creation. A daily grant is a genuinely different offer from a monthly one — it renews faster and caps harder — and theirs is more generous over a month than our ten credits.

The one missing number

Their FAQ answers "What are Gems?" with: "Gems are the credits generations spend. Each plan includes a monthly Gem allowance, and paid plans also get 50% off buying additional Gems. Some actions have their own Gem cost — a voice message costs 1 Gem and a voice call costs 2."

So voice is priced and image generation, the thing the product is for, is not. That is almost certainly not deliberate concealment — the image cost probably varies by quality and style, which is exactly why it is hard to put one number on a marketing page. It still means the buyer cannot answer the only question that matters before paying.

Ours is one credit a photograph whatever the style, whatever the quality, and three for a video. That is a constraint we accepted on purpose: it means we cannot charge more for the expensive renders, and it means the number on the button is the number that leaves your balance.

Unlimited, at the top of the ladder

Pro at $33.99 includes unlimited casual generations. That is a genuinely different offer from anything we sell, and for a heavy user it is likely the best value in this entire comparison set — subject to what "casual" means, which their page does not define.

We cannot match it and the reason is in our own pricing file. A realistic photograph costs us about three cents of rented GPU. Selling unlimited realistic renders at $33.99 would mean any subscriber generating more than about a thousand a month is a loss, and there is no way to know in advance which subscriber that is.

A product that can offer unlimited is either serving much cheaper renders, throttling somewhere, or has better hardware economics than we do. All three are legitimate, and which one it is changes what "unlimited" is worth.

Where Promptchan is better

Unlimited casual generations on Pro. Nothing we sell is unlimited except conversation.

A daily free allowance rather than a monthly one, plus a community gallery you can clone any public creation from. Our free tier is ten credits and there is no gallery to borrow from.

Full-length AI video with an extend function, against our three-credit clips.

Their pricing page is better than ours in every respect except the one number this page needed: a real FAQ, a stated cancellation route, and list prices with promotions acknowledged rather than hidden.

What we could not check

Every one of these products puts its checkout behind a signup. Where a number was not readable without an account, it is listed here rather than taken from a review site that earns a commission on the answer.

  • What an image costs in Gems, at any quality. This is the number the whole comparison would hinge on.
  • Where the boundary between a "casual" generation and a Gem-priced one falls.
  • Whether the monthly prices carry an annual term.

Same girl, anywhere

Four shoots of Vera — different clothes, different city, different weather. Nothing re-rolled: every one is an edit of the first.

vera · slip dress, windy balcony

Those four cost four credits. Run the same test on Promptchan — both products have a free tier — and put the faces side by side. If ours does not hold up, none of the arithmetic above matters and you should ignore this page.

Promptchan against the others

Head-to-heads we are not in. Same rules, and the verdict names one of the two.

Tier prices, Gem allowances, the voice costs and the FAQ text were read off promptchan.com/upgrade on the date above from a signed-out browser.

No Gem-to-image conversion appears on this page because none is published.

Our own figures on every page in this set are mirrored from the file the product bills from, and a server test fails the build if a page and that file disagree. Being wrong about our own prices, on the pages arguing about prices, is the one mistake that costs more than these pages can earn back.
